Politécnico de Suramérica is a vocational learning institution that has operated in Colombia for more than 40 years. With a modern-day emphasis on virtual learning in addition to in-person classes, Politécnico de Suramérica’s programs and courses are accessible to students throughout the country.
Politécnico de Suramérica regularly promotes its offerings with campaigns of ads that click to WhatsApp, which encourage potential new customers to message the business directly on WhatsApp to learn more.
Their Goal
Better lead qualification
The school’s previous approach directed people to a landing page where they could learn more and supply their contact information. A team member would manually follow up afterward with more information. This approach generated an estimated 2,500 monthly leads for its technical programs and 18,000 monthly leads for its courses and diplomas.
However, a majority of the leads were not actionable because full contact information wasn’t always provided, leads weren’t always properly qualified and the information wasn’t fully integrated with Politécnico de Suramérica’s campaigns and Customer Relationship Management system (CRM).

A virtual agent on WhatsApp
Politécnico de Suramérica partnered with WhatsApp Business Partner Atomchat to develop an AI-assisted virtual agent that could respond immediately to the most common customer questions on WhatsApp, collect lead information and automatically classify each lead for future engagement. The information collected by the virtual agent was immediately sent to Politécnico de Suramérica’s CRM system for future remarketing campaigns and follow-up.
After viewing an ad on Facebook or Instagram or a form on Politécnico de Suramérica’s website, potential new customers could click to message the virtual agent directly on WhatsApp. The agent provided natural-sounding, conversational answers based on the person’s interest in Politécnico de Suramérica’s technical programs, diplomas or certified free courses. It also collected information to help build out the person’s customer profile. When customers had specific questions or wanted to enroll, a member of the live service team joined the conversation to help them.
Their Success
Increased leads and enrollments
Politécnico de Suramérica compared the first month of this new approach (May 2025) against the previous month’s results and reported growth in lead generation and enrollments. And while potential customers might have waited a full day for a response from an employee with the previous approach, Politécnico de Suramérica reported that the average handling time was 12–15 minutes with the new experience.
