U.S. Enterprises Are Investing in AI. Those Seeing Results Are Also Investing in Orchestration.
92% of U.S. enterprises surveyed already use AI in direct customer messaging. The companies pulling ahead globally are going one step further: connecting those channels into a single, continuous customer experience.
Research from Meta and Boston Consulting Group, surveying 533 business leaders across 10 markets, found that enterprises deploying messaging across the full customer lifecycle report up to 2X improvement in customer lifetime value and customer acquisition cost compared to those running isolated use cases.
What separates them is how broadly they deploy the channel.
Full-lifecycle messaging drives compounding returns
U.S. companies tend to start with promotional campaigns—a reasonable entry point. The research shows that the biggest gains come when messaging also handles the interactions customers value most: order updates and delivery alerts, account verification, and real-time support.
These touchpoints build channel trust. Customers learn to expect important, relevant information in the thread. And when they do, engagement with every subsequent message can grow, including marketing.
The data backs this up:
- Enterprises using messaging for authentication see a 25-30% increase in verification success rates
- Those offering real-time support via messaging report a 15-20% improvement in CSAT and NPS
- Companies using messaging for fulfillment and transaction updates see 20-25% higher engagement rates
When all of these interactions happen in a single persistent thread, each one reinforces the next. That’s the compounding effect driving 2X outcomes in high-adoption markets.
Watch: What high-performing enterprises do differently
In this conversation from the Leading in the Age of Messaging study, BCG Managing Director & Partner Lucas Frenay and Meta Director of Product Management James Detmer break down what the research reveals about U.S. enterprise channel strategy.
Watch to learn:
- How connecting interactions across channels creates compounding value
- Why persistent, context-rich threads become more powerful as agentic AI scales
- What verified business identity and structured flows mean for customer trust
“It’s not about being the only channel,” Detmer says. “It’s about giving customers a high-trust space where the most important interactions can happen in a single continuous thread, without losing context.”
